Superconducting magnet power supply

The SMS series power supplies all have the following design features:

• Easy to use front panel push button operation and full 80 character Alpha-numeric status display
• USB connection for full control via GPIB communications with LabView.
• LabVIEW software VI module which enables automated control of the magnetic field.
• Precision double stabilized output with fail-safe energy absorber and precision shunt monitoring
• Automatic quench detection and protection with internal energy absorber
• Accurate ramp with dual set point and pause, with automatic voltage limit for fast ramping
• Remotely driven adjustable switch heater output
• Auxiliary analogue and digital interfaces for peripherals
(including Cryogenic HLG units for low helium safety, external trip inputs,
all available for remote reading via the IEEE interface)
• Automatic four quadrant operation including smooth current reverse
through zero with our 4Q intelligent reverse facility

The SMS Series power supply has a built-in energy dump which can absorb the stored energy from the magnet even when the mains power has failed. The SMS Series power supply provides full protection in the event of a magnet quench event.
