AC SUSCEPTIBILITY MODULE

The AC magnetic susceptibility of a sample is measured by applying a small AC field using a drive (or primary) field coil and detecting the sample response with an astatic pair of pick-up (or secondary) coils.
A special probe is used in the VTI with an extra coil for driving an AC field and detecting the sample response, all mounted within the VTI.
The sample space is 5mm diameter and the sample can be top loaded manually into the coil set. The AC drive and detection uses phase sensitive detection operating over a wide frequency range.
AC Susceptibility Operating Parameters |
|
|---|---|
| Maximum AC Field: | 20 gauss at 100Hz |
| Sensitivity at 1KHz: | 10-7 emu at 4K |
| Useful range of frequency: | 1Hz to 20 KHz |
| Maximum sample size: | 5mm diameter |
| Probe outer diameter: | 24mm |
| Temperature range: | 1.6K to 325K |
Key features:
• The sample moves between the centers of the two coils to eliminate any parasitic signals.
• The AC Susceptometer shares a sample probe and coil set with the VSM, enabling immediate switch between AC and VSM.
• Wide frequency range with high sensitivity.
